How Do I Install Right-Click Protection?

Our NextGEN Pro plugin has a built-in right-click (and site-wide) right click protection setting. Navigate to Gallery > Other Options > Image Protection:

—-

Please note:

This is just a basic right click protection. As with all websites and methods of disabling right clicks,  if someone wanted to copy your content they can go to the code source of the blog and can easily copy the content from there. But for the average internet user it would take them longer than its worth to figure out how to do that. 🙂

  1. Not sure this plugin is working on this site. I say that because when I went to http://www.smokebrush.com/…dancing….
I was able to right click and “save as”…
I does keep me from right-clicking on the thumbnails for the galleries, but not on the images themselves once they are opened.

I’ll still check it on my site, but I thought you should know.

    Cheers,
    Al

Update: Seems to only work on images opened with the flash/imagerotator application. When it simply opens the image on a new page (like the link above), then it doesn’t work.
So, I don’t this the issue is as big as i thought at first.

Update 2: Ok, one last comment. Even when you open the image in the imagerotator/flash image viewer, when I hover my mouse over the image, it brings up those 4 icons in the top left corner which allow me to Save, Print, Email, and Open My Pictures folder.

    FYI.

  3. Al,

You might try installing WP-CopyRightPro instead. It’s the best we’ve found so far to help protect your images. It doesn’t provide the pop-up notice like the plugin above does, but it does prevent dragging and dropping images to desktop to save, right-clicking to save, and even provides protection in iframe.

We’re working hard to find plugins that help protect from unwanted visitors saving your images to their desktop or using them without permission. Unfortunately right now if people go directly to your images like you saw – you can save the image. The links your seeing when in the open pop up display are features of your browser. Not all browsers will have this option. For instance, I”m on a PC and in Chrome, IE & Firefox I don’t see those links. So the majority of visitors will not see what you’re seeing.

If we find or build ourselves any stronger image protection plugin – we’ll for sure let everyone know. We want to protect our sites just as much as you all 🙂

Thank you for the heads up!

  5. I’ve installed both of the suggested plug ins and right click is disable. Thanks for that. My images are still able to be saved when they are simply clicked on and opened to full size. If I made every image a link back to the gallery itself, would that prevent my images being able to be stolen?
    Thanks,
    Jessica

  7. Jessica,

It could be because you have both Blog Protector and WP-CopyrightPro installed. You only need one because both do about the same thing. I would suggest using WP-CopyrightPro only.

  9. I am having the same problem, that once my images are clicked on and opened, they are able to be right-clicked and saved. I installed WP-CopyrightPro only. Is there a way I could prevent visitors from clicking on the images at all? Thanks.

  11. One more question re: opening the images. I have noticed than when they are clicked, the image that opens is much sharper and colored. The reason I started a blog is because the pictures didn’t look their best in facebook. On my homepage her eyes look dull, until it’s clicked on. Is it something I can fix? Resolution? Not sure why it would look one way on the page and another when it’s opened.

  13. Hi.
I have uploaded the WP-CopyrightPro directory to via FTP but I am unable to see the plugin in the admin panel in WordPress.

I have ensured that I am not nesting the folders and that there is not an additional unnecessary plugin folder in the hierarchy

I have ensured that the upload was made in ASCII mode and not on Auto.

I have tried logging in and out of WordPress

What am I doing wrong? It just won’t show up on the admin panel so that I can activate it.

    1. Ahmadak, Try deleting the WP-CopyrightPro folder first via FTP and then upload a fresh copy from the WordPress Plugins directory. You can also add the plugin directly in the WordPress plugin area in the WordPress administraion area without deleting the old plugin. Use the Add Plugin button and then search for WP-CopyrightPro and install it. – Photocrati Tech Support
